Meet the Team

James Horrocks
CEO
James has been navigating financial markets since 1994, when he kicked off his career in BNP’s technology infrastructure team.
Since then, he’s built deep expertise across global multi-asset trading and strategy implementation, working his way through some heavyweight institutions—JP Morgan, Société Générale, and DRKW on the sell side—before moving to buy-side roles at Man Group’s StatArb fund Man-Drake, Fulcrum Asset Management as Partner, his own venture Iceberg SA, and CdR Capital as Partner, CTO and Head of Trading.
James brings together technical know-how and trading insight, backed by a BA in Economics from Sussex University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Economics and Finance from Bristol University.

Stamatis Leontsinis
CIO
Stamatis launched his asset management career at Fulcrum Asset Management in 2010, where he served as principal quantitative strategist and fund manager of the $1 billion Multi-Asset Volatility Fund.
He’s since taken his volatility and derivatives expertise to RWC Partners (as a specialist in their Quantitative Strategies Division) and CdR Capital as Partner and Quantitative Portfolio Manager and Researcher, managing over $100m in commodity volatility arbitrage strategies.
When he’s not building strategies, Stamatis has shared his knowledge as an adjunct lecturer at Sussex University Business School. He holds a PhD from Henley Business School, an MSc in Finance from the ICMA Centre, University of Reading, and a BSc in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business.

Athanasios Bolmatis
PM, CTO and CRO
Thanos began his investment journey at Fulcrum Asset Management in 2006, spearheading quantitative research in alternative beta and risk premia strategies.
During his time there, he oversaw $1.6 billion in quantitative products, sat on the risk committee, and architected the firm’s internal risk management system. He went on to become Partner and Head of the Quantitative Strategies Division at RWC Partners, and most recently served as Head of Quantitative Investments and Strategies at CdR Capital.
Thanos has also held research positions at UCLA and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He brings rigorous academic grounding to the table with a PhD in Econfinance from UCLA and both a BA and MSc in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business.

Thomas Pontin
COO, CMO and CCO
Thomas is one of the co-founders of both Shikuma Capital and QuantStream. He heads up everything outside the investment engine—operations, compliance oversight and marketing—and chairs the valuation committee.
Before founding Shikuma Capital in 2020, Thomas spent five years at ADG Capital Management (a $3.4bn systematic macro fund) as Global Head of Sales and Marketing.
Prior to that, he led sales and marketing efforts at Harmonic Capital, Fulcrum Asset Management, and F&C Alternative Investments.
Thomas studied Economics at Manchester University and holds the Investment Management Certificate, SMF3, SMF16, and Series 3 designations.

Unlocking streams of opportunity
The commodity landscape presents institutional investors with a complex, often underexplored, yet potentially lucrative arena. Characterised by long-term cyclical markets, it offers unique diversification beyond traditional portfolios.
The commodity market is in flux, shaped by structural shifts, changing trade flows, and a growing ESG push. New platforms and evolving regulations have opened doors, triggering increased participation, bigger volumes, lower costs, and quicker trades. But while trading pools are expanding and financially tradable commodities are growing, increased competition is thinning margins. Success now hinges on a global smart-scale approach, with traders needing to diversify beyond legacy commodities and expand their global reach.
Here, our expertise becomes crucial, guiding both organic growth and strategic partnerships in this shifting terrain. And with a five-year upward trend, the industry’s outlook remains robust. By partnering with QuantStream, investors can skilfully navigate these dynamic market conditions, leveraging unique diversification options and emerging market potential that might otherwise be out of reach.
